SUNDAY SCHOOL 2008: SOUL FOOD

We at Bethesda share a common faith in Jesus Christ and provide many opportunities for continuing Christian growth. As Christians, we have a responsibility to provide for the Christian nurture of our children and our youth. We also have a responsibility, as adults, to be faithful disciples by participating in Sunday School. We invite you to join one of these groups and share in these educational offerings.

All ages and classes join together for refreshments at 9:15 in the fellowship hall followed by Sunday School classes for all ages beginning at 9:45. Come early, chat with friends, and then "feed your soul" in one of our educational adventures.

Rally Day Class Brings Everyone Together

NURSERY: Infants through 2 years old spend the Sunday School time in a beautifully redecorated nursery room, complete with cribs and changing table. Children are treated to one -on- one loving care, with plenty of snacks, books, puzzles and toys. The Nursery Worker, Lynn Dworak, is present with volunteers assisting for the Sunday School hour, as well as the Worship hour. The nursery is located in the breezeway near the church office.

3 - 4 year old class: meets in the classroom next to the nursery.
Kindergarten: meets in the classroom beside the food pantry in the short hallway.
Grades 1-3: meets in room #18 on the second floor.
Grade 4-5: Old Testament Survey- meets in room #17 on the second floor.


BIBLE SCHOOL: A week long focused Bible Study offered every summer for toddlers through 5th graders:

Bible School

OLDER YOUTH CLASSES:

6th -8thGrade: "Bible Review"- a lively group, meets upstairs in room #20.
9th-12th Grades:  "Radical Jesus!" and "Extraordinary People of the Bible" ; (meet at 9:30 for donuts & juice in their classroom before Sunday School starts).
Confirmation Class: A multi-age adventure in faith that is offered once a year beginning in January, for interested youth, grades 6-12, using "The Big Picture", which introduces key aspects of the Christian experience. Youth are invited to profess their faith in Christ and join the church at the end of the course, if they feel ready. This nine-week course meets on Wed. evenings from 5-7pm. Parents of participants take turns providing a meal.

ADULT OFFERINGS:

  1. Jesse Wimberley Bible Class Meets in Conference Room on the upstairs floor.
    They are studying "The Present Word" and their focus is I John and Revelation.
  2. The Upper Room Class Meets in room across from the Chapel on the first floor.
    The class is studying "An Introduction to the New Testament: Witnesses to God's New Work", by Charles B. Couser.
  3. Seekers of the Word Meet in the end room downstairs next to the parking lot on the first floor. They are studying "Heart Knowledge: Spiritual Discipline and the Experience of God", from the "We Believe" series by Kirk Winslow. Different class members taking turns as facilitators.
  4. Faith Explorers Meet in the classroom across from the Chapel and are studying "Facing Your Giants" by Max Lucado, based on the book of Samuel.
